The 2017 Summit (24-25 March, 2017), Sale. The focus was on mental health throughout the lifespan and always keeping the patient at the centre of health care.

We brought some very special guests to Gippsland from around Australia to work with us on:

  • Post natal depression – Dr Vijay Roach
  • Youth mental health – A/Prof Sarah Hetrick and Dr Magenta Simmons
  • Suicide in rural areas –
  • Dementia – Dr Helena Popovic

Performances

Out of the Blue – Please join us for a special community night.  Play will be performed in various locations across Gippsland. Cost: Gold coin donation.

  • Orbost Monday 20 March 2017  7.00 pm   Orbost Exhibition Centre.
  • Sale Tuesday 21 March 2017  7.00 pm   Esso BHP Billiton Wellington Entertainment Centre.
  • Leongatha Wednesday 22 March 2017  7.00 pm   Mesley Hall Leongatha Secondary College.

These performances will be followed by a panel discussion and we invite all community members to join us as we learn together, what can support our communities to be caring and resilient, in ways that can improve our mental health and our understanding of each other. Supper will be provided. Donations will be donated to local community agencies in each town we visit.

Keynote speakers

Dr Helena Popovic is a medical doctor, leading authority on how to improve brain function, international speaker and best-selling author.

A/Prof Munjed Al Muderis is an Orthopaedic Surgeon, Adjunct Associate Professor, School of Medicine, Notre Dame, Sydney and a Clinical Lecturer at Macquarie University.

Dr Vijay Roach is an obstetrician and gynaecologist working in private and public practice in Sydney, Australia. He is the Vice-President of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Lecturer at the University of Sydney and Chairman of the Gidget Foundation.

A/Prof Sarah Hetrick is Clinical Psychologist at Orygen the National Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health, working clinically at headspace Glenroy.

Dr Magenta Simmons is a Research Fellow in Evidence‐Based Clinical Decision Making and the Youth Partnerships in Research Coordinator at Orygen, the National Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health in Melbourne, Australia.
